I Hear You!

Jesus said, “If you ask anything in my name, I will do it.” John 14:14 And, in 1John 5:14-15 it says, “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.” Sometimes we may not visibly see the answers but, we can trust that He has heard and answered.  Sometimes we pray for miracles like, “Please don’t let my Father in Law die!” but, he was 91 and, had a bad heart. The sad fact is, we all will die but, my heart wasn’t ready to let him go! God knew that, it’s not His desire that people die, and He weeps with us because of satan’s cruel attacks in this world. But, sometimes, there are answers that make us weep with joy!  Yesterday, we had one of those days!

Our daughter’s one year old dog, Willow an exceptionally friendly and energetic Golden Retriever, felt she needed some extra adventure and jumped her fence. The call to prayer came mid-morning and, even though we were very sad and worried, we knew God could take care of her.  We did our part by putting up missing dog posters, posting Facebook messages, and sending many texts.  Unfortunately, there was no sign of Willow anywhere and, the dreaded moment of telling my granddaughters their “furry sibling” was missing was drawing near.

Daddy was the one to pick them up at school this day and he got right to the point, “We need to pray girls because, your puppy is lost!”  What a hard thing to tell an eight and five year old but, they are believers and they pray!  I’m smiling as I type this, less than 10 minutes after their prayer, our daughter received a message, “I think we have found your dog!”  When she called me with the news, we both wept with joy!  God is so amazing!  He heard the prayer of the little girls and showed them how their faith was rewarded.

A favorite writer of mine, says,“God is well pleased when people make the very highest demands upon Him, that they may glorify His name.  They may expect large things if they have faith in His promises.” The Desire of Ages page 668. I know things like this help me trust Him!  I believe I will see my father-in-law someday - in a place that has no more tears, or sickness, or evil!  I will wait patiently until then and will ask, seek, and knock knowing God delights in answering my prayers!
